The Green Sand Beach on the Big Island of Hawaii is the only green sand beach in the world. The greed sand is made of the mineral Olivine, which can be found in the volcanic rocks in Hawaii. This is one of my favorite spots in the world.

Where did you hear that this is the only green sand beach? I’ve been to one in the Galapagos.
“Punta Cormorant offers two highly contrasting beaches. The landing beach is of volcanic origin and is composed of olivine crystals, giving it a greenish tinge. At the end of the short trail is a carbonate beach of extremely fine white sand. Formed by the erosion of coral skeletons, it is a nesting site for green sea turtles.”
