Rennell Island is a raised coral atoll, surrounded by 100-300m cliffs. These cliffs have made the island very inaccessible. This inaccessibilty and customary land ownership on the island have left Rennell as one of the only islands in the Solomons not to have been heavily logged. This photo was taken from the window of the plane as we approached Rennell.
