Win A $100 Marriott Gift Card!

The folks at Marriott contacted me about an interesting contest for my readers.

With more and more people getting married later in life, the idea of registering at a traditional store to get china, blankets and household items is becoming less and less necessary. They started a program to let people register for hotels, spas, dinners, etc for their wedding. Also, Marriott will throw in a complimentary $100 when registry contributions reach $1,000 as well as rewarding guests with $50 Marriott Bonus Bucks for every $100 they give towards the registry.

Not a bad deal if you are getting married and love to travel. (and by the way ladies, I am still very eligible!)

To promote this, Marriott is going to give away a $100 gift card to one of my readers.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me where in the world you would like go for your honeymoon. (and if you have already gone on a honeymoon, then where would you go for a 2nd, 3rd, etc. honeymoon) I will pick one winner and will pass the email address and name of the winner to Marriott.

This contest will end on Friday, October 2, 2009.

  1. Wendy says:

I think I would love to go back to the Greek Isles. I was there about ten years ago and loved it. Every time I see photos from there, I wish I could go back. I love traveling and I’m torn between wanting to go somewhere I’ve never gone (just because I have so many places I’d want to visit) and somewhere I’ve gone before (so that I don’t feel like I have to pack in all the things I should see). Either way, it won’t be for some time that I’ll be on my honeymoon, so I have some time to ponder!

  2. Sharon A says:

We went to Las Vegas for our first honeymoon, however our first choice would have been Maui.

  3. Allie K. says:

Tony and I would love to go to a small vineyard in the Tuscany area of Italy. We love wine!

  4. Marjory says:

Years ago, my husband spent some time in Uruguay. I’ve always wanted to go there. For my fourth honeymoon (yes, already had three), I’d love to go to Uruguay and Argentina.

  5. Anne T. says:

We didn’t really go on a honeymoon :-( Our 20th anniversary is coming up next year and I’d love to go to Vancouver!

    Thanks

  6. Tena says:

We went to Mexico, but if I can.. I would have gone to the Maldives! The beach, the people, and the location is what attract me the most =)

  7. Rose R says:

I would love to go to South Dakota!!! Thanks for the contest!

  8. One place. New York City.
    To Eat.
    And Shop.
    And Go to a Show.
    And Relax!

  9. April says:

I went on honeymoon in Maui and loved every second of it. We took our first year anniversary honeymoon in Thailand – it was AMAZING! I’m thinking Costa Rica or Fiji for our 3rd :) I love the idea of a honeymoon registry!!

  10. Holly Bowers says:

Oh, Hawaii, for sure. We got married three years ago, but hubby and I still haven’t had chance to take a honeymoon. Being students, and living far away from both sets of parents… well, vacation time and money tends to go on visiting them, rather than trips for ourselves.

  11. Carla Young says:

Wow a hotel company with a good idea for once! I’d much rather register for travel, than some china I’d never use. In order to take this fictional honeymoon it would require finding a guy that loves to travel as much as I do.

Perfect Honeymoon Destination – Christmas Islands. I’d love to see the migrations of the crabs, and would love to just chill on the beach with my new hubby.

  12. Rachel says:

We’re debating this topic right now! Candidates: Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Egypt, Thailand/Cambodia, European Tour, Galapagos Islands…I think Greece is going to win.

  13. Devin Licon says:

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to Hawaii, but my fiance says Florida is beautiful. Japan would just be a dream for us. Welcome back State-side, sounds like you’re having a wonderful trip.

  14. Kelsey says:

I’d love to go to Paris, France. It seems so romantic there!

  15. love to go to germany

  16. Melissa says:

For my 2nd I would like to go see Penguins in Antarctica. Since it will be cold, there will be plenty of snuggling on the boat!

  17. Ann F says:

I want to go to St. Lucia

  18. Jill L says:

If money was no object, we would be going to Tahiti. Since we have a long way to go before we could afford that, give me a warm sunny beach anywhere.

  19. I would really love to go to Hawaii. It’s somewhere that I really drool over, whenever I see photo’s of Hawaii. Really would love to go there. Thank you so much for this giveaway.

  20. Johnny says:

I would have to travel back to Bora Bora…greatest place in the world to vacation.

  21. Amy Moore says:

As my first honeymoon was to Oklahoma City, my second should be anywhere but there. But if I was going to nail it down, I’d really like to go to Wyoming or Montana or a second honeymoon. We really enjoy doing outdoor adventure things like hiking and rafting together. Good quality relationship building time.

  22. Japan!! Not Tokyo… some of the cool out of the way places. And Kyoto I suppose.

  23. Marilyn Wons says:

I would love to go to Switzerland for my second honeymoon!

  24. 216amyc says:

I’m not sure where I’d want to go on my honeymoon as I’m not married yet. I guess I would let my finances at the time dictate that!

  25. Leigh says:

Reykjavik is my first choice. Hot springs, beautiful hiking, and the kind of weather that’s conducive to snuggling…what more could you want?

  26. Damon says:

I would go back to Kona, HI where we spent our first honeymoon. It’s still my favorite of all the places I’ve visited.

  27. stormy says:

I would love to go to the beach. We had a 1 night honeymoon when we got married and haven’t had really any more time than that.

  28. bruleeblog says:

    Tahiti would be lovely!

  29. HOPE TEICH says:

THE SAME PLACE I WENT ON MY FIRST
HONEYMOON – SAN JUAN PUERTO RICO
    TO THE MARIOTT HOTEL…

  30. David says:

Hawaii. We were married a month and a half ago and haven’t had the money (or the time off of work) to take a trip yet. Though it’s a pretty typical honeymoon spot, we’ve heard great things and are hoping to hike into some of the canyons and make it a nature-heavy trip. Here’s hoping!

  31. Katie says:

My fiancee and I want to have a spectacular honeymoon in Australia. How that’s going to happen, or how it’s going to be funded, it the question for us..

  32. Dalton says:

Maui. My wife deserves another trip.

  33. Manju says:

    Thailand! definitely Thailand for me

  34. A weekend getaway with my kids.

  35. Nathan Dube says:

when my wife and I ever do get the chance for a 2nd honeymoon we would like to visit Nova Scotia.

  36. carol says:

You can tell Marriott that my lifelong dream for a second honeymoon (a dream shared by my wonderful husband of 26+ years) is to go to Kauai, and I know Marriott has some spectacular properties there. I would flip if I won!

  37. Rob says:

I’m going on my 3rd anniversary and still no honeymoon, but if I did go one one, I’d pick a drive through California wine country right around harvest time.

  38. The Bahamas would be my next choice

  39. Chrissy says:

I’d love to go to Bora Bora on my honeymoon! It’s paradise!

  40. Christine says:

I would love to go back to Thunder Bay Canada – where we went on our honeymoon 10 years ago.

  41. Rosie says:

I’d love to spend a month traveling around China. Especially the northern part of China around Lijiang. I’ve never been there but have seen photos of the town and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It’s beautiful!

  42. T-roy says:

I’d go to the Maldives Islands, scuba dive, relax on the beach and do nothing for a week. Complete paradise for me and my lady.

  43. Kim says:

I would go to the Club Peace & Plenty in Exuma, Bahamas. So relaxing and beautiful!

  44. Joe says:

I’d love to go to Australia.

  45. Chinamatt says:

I would’ve registered when I got married if they had this. Would be useful now considering we never really had a honeymoon.

Since my wife hasn’t seen much of her new home country, I’d definitely have to choose somewhere in the US for her (that way she doesn’t have to get another visa). I think the Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico would be great destinations for my wife and me–I know we’d enjoy the food.

  46. Honeymoon… gotta be Tamarindo, Costa Rica. I was there, and realized that there IS a reason to get busy on the “work side” of life…and, it’s to take off and go to places like this…

  47. Stephanie says:

I haven’t the slightest inclination to plan a wedding but my dream honeymoon is already sketched out in detail! I’d love to spend a few weeks visiting the beautiful cities of Southern Spain (Seville, Cadiz, Cordoba etc.) than hop on over to Morocco. Sun, sea, culture and oh so romantic.

  48. Chris says:

Me and mine have quite a while to go before considering marriage. But I think the best honeymoon would take place at the Arenal Volcano springs in Costa Rica. Pura Vida!
