Everyone is probably familiar with the redwood tree. The tallest tree in the world, they are absolutely incredible incredible sights to behold and standing next to one is one of the most humbling experiences you can have.
That being said, Redwood National Park doesn’t get as many visitors as you would think. Despite being in the most populous state in the US and despite the incredible majesty of the trees. The reason for this is probably the distance the park is from any major city and the fact that there are redwood groves closer to places like San Francisco.
Nonetheless, it is worth it to take the time to drive to Redwood National Park (and nearby Redwood State Park) as it is the largest collection of redwood trees in the world.
Redwood National Park and State Park were both added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1980.
