My 2013 Travels in Airport Codes

This year I landed on the world’s shortest commercial runway on the island of Saba
During 2013 I’ve kept track of every flight I’ve taken, including connections and layovers. As all my flights for the rest of the month are already booked, I am able to publish a complete list of every flight of 2013.

Believe it or not, I didn’t qualify for elite status on any airline this year! Many of my flighst in the summer were on LIAT which doesn’t have a frequent flyer program. My flights to Africa on South African Airlines were only given 1/2 credit by United. I will end up 13 miles short of elite status on United. My next Star Alliance flight is on January 1, 2014 out of Sydney!

My other flights were scattered amongst other airlines. This is one of the reasons I am giving up on chasing elite status. The benefits just aren’t worth it anymore.

Where you see a | symbol, I transferred between airports by ground or water.

Total flights: 84
Unique Airports: 72
Shortest Flight: 12 minutes (St. Martin to Saba)
Longest Flight: 15 hours, 50 minutes (Vancouver to Sydney)
Lost Bags: 3 (Virgin Gorda to St. Martin, Boston to Dublin, Vancouver to Sydney)

  1. Wow, now that’s a collection of airport codes!
72 in just a year. And it ain’t over yet! Until you sing!

  2. Do write a letter to UA regarding being 13 miles short on elite status, include info on your blogs etc. A tweet wouldn’t hurt, either. I would be surprised if they don’t accord you at least silver.

  3. This cracked me up! That’s a lot of flights….I can’t believe there is no elite status…maybe next year you need 83 flights!

  4. Even if you were reunited, I am surprised at the 4% lost rate! I am too scared to check in baggage for this reason!

  5. OMG! 84 flights. Wow we did 34 flights this year with 2 children and thought that was manic. Longest was Dubai to Perth, Australia. Shorted would be probably Barcelona to Spain. Oh I lie longest would be today’s flight Perth, Australia to Israel.

  6. Hi Gary, love your website and photos!
Just wondering if those lost baggage incidents were “lost forever” or if they were eventually recovered as i would imagine that any such delay would be a major headache when you have such a busy itinerary.
    Enjoy your Australian Christmas.

  7. Hey dude………….. How did you manage to remember about your travel route………… it was great to read about your travel through Airport.
