Photo Essay : Yellowstone National Park

Posted by on April 25, 2012

In the summer of 2009 I embarked on what became a 20,000 mile road trip across the western United States and Canada. A trip which eventually took me through 20 states and over a dozen national parks. One of the highlights of the trip was my visit to Yellowstone. I had been there previously on a geology field trip, but spent less than a day in the park. My 2009 trip allowed me to spend a full four-days in the park exploring and taking photographs.

Yellowstone is one of the most special places on Earth and is my favorite National Park in the United States. It is with good reason it was the very first National Park in the world.

I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I did taking them!

Spotify’s Greatest Travel Songs

Posted by on April 24, 2012

I’m a big fan of Spotify. It is one of the few streaming media apps that I can use from anywhere in the world.

They have also recently made it possible to embed playlists. I figured I should take advantage of this new feature to publish the list of travel songs I’ve collected on Spotify.

This is a living list. If you have suggestions for songs you think I should add, please let me know in the comments.

(Note: you have to have Spotify installed to listen directly from the browser)

Monday Travel Update – Chungking Mansion Edition

In the words of Dante from Clerks: “I’m not even supposed to be here today!”

My original plan after Melbourne was to fly back to the US and spend 10 days in Portland before starting the photography tour in San Francisco. However, there was a slight change of plans and I ended up in Hong Kong.

I was contacted by Cathay Pacific to try their new Premium Economy seats. As I have never flown on Cathay Pacific before and I haven’t been to Hong Kong since December 2007, it was an easy decision.

In the 4+ years since I was last in Hong Kong, it seems more expensive. Actually, it seems a lot more expensive. (more…)

Thoughts on Australia

Over the course of the last five years, I’ve been able to explore more of Australia than most Australians have. I’ve been to every Australian state and territory and have driven over 20,000km throughout the country. My recent trips to New South Wales and Victoria this year have given me a new opportunity to see Australia and reflect on some of the changes I’ve seen over the last 4 years since my first visit.

Here are some of my thoughts:
