Tuesday Travel Update – Glasgow, Scotland

Mann MoneyAfter a enjoyable weekend on the Isle of Man, I’ve arrived in Glasgow, Scotland.

I think the Isle of Man would be a great place to take a short vacation in the summer. In fact the capitol, Douglas, it has all the feel of a seaside resort town. As with all resort towns, things slow down in the winter. I had a rental car and spent a fair amount of time driving around the island, but I didn’t spend too much time walking because of the high winds.

Driving around Mann was an experience. I’ve driven plenty on the left hand side of the road in Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Fiji, so that wasn’t a problem. The roads on Mann are very narrow and often with stone walls on the edge of the road.

While I was on Mann I went to an ATM machine to get enough pounds to last me through my time in Scotland and England. I got about £200 which I thought was more than enough and put it in my pocket without looking at it. (more…)

The Business of running a Popular Travel Blog

I don’t like talking about business on my blog.

Honestly, the business part of what I do isn’t really that interesting compared to the traveling. I don’t travel to have a business, I have a business so I can travel. Nonetheless, about once a year I allow myself the indulgence to write about the business side of what I do. It is a frequent question I get from people who I meet on the road and from people who discover my site.

I arrived here today on a short flight from Belfast, Northern Ireland. I’ll be here through the weekend exploring the island an taking photos.
