Enjoyed the new podcast. But when it got to the part about how Jen was saying that all she needs is new gear to get images.. and the rest could be covered with a simple camera class, etc.
I can’t tell you how much this angers me. Not at Jen, but that this mentality has been put forth by the freakin’ camera manufacturers. It implies that it’s all about the gear and the photographer has very little to do with it.
The gear isn’t anywhere near as important as you all seem to think. I’ve got some of the best images of my career from a simple point and shoot. Perpetuating this myth is really sad.
I know what I’m talking about. You can view some of my own work here:

Most of the images in this slide were shot with a little point and shoot Panasonic LX3. Others where a Nikon D300
Skip’s Mexico 2009
I KNOW that Gary knows this to be true. It’s just gets me every time I hear people perpetuate exactly what the camera manufacturer’s want them to, ie. it’s not the artist, it’s the gear. ARGHHH ;-)
