Car, tunnel and Mount Rushmore, Black Hills, South Dakota
If you go into the Black Hills National Forest there is a short tunnel carved into the rock that perfectly aligns with the faces on Mount Rushmore. I have no idea if it was planned or was an accident, but it is pretty neat.

I was just there! How did I miss this tunnel? Great shot–a new way of looking at the monument.
When I went thru this same tunnel in 1982, the truck’s external rear-view mirrors had to be folded in to keep from scraping the rock walls. I see they’ve made an attraction out of it by expanding the capacity.
I love the Black Hills and i so enjoyed my many visits there. I do hope you went to Deadwood while you were there. Amazing places. I love your blog here, by the way!!
