The Gregory Tree is a significant tree in the history of Australia. It was here in 1855-56 that the AC Gregory expedition camped. The boab tree in the photo was carved by members of the party with the dates they arrived and left the camp. Gregory was one of the first Europeans to explore north and west outback Australia.
What amazed me about the tree was that they used a serif font when they engraved their names in the trunk 150 years ago.
